Should you hire an AI automation agency or build in-house?
Hire an agency when you have one or two clear workflows to automate and nobody in-house who has built AI systems before. Build in-house when AI will run through many parts of the business and you can hire, or already have, people to maintain it.

When does an agency make sense?
- You want one workflow working soon, such as lead replies or invoice entry.
- Nobody on the team has built and tested an AI system before.
- You want to learn what works before hiring for it.
- You need someone accountable for testing, handovers and an off switch.
When does in-house make sense?
- AI will touch many departments and keep changing.
- You can hire or train people to own it long term.
- Your data or systems are too sensitive to share outside.
- You already have developers who know your systems well.
Can you do both?
Yes, and it is common. An agency builds the first workflows and documents them; your team learns alongside and takes over. Ask any agency up front for full documentation, accounts in your name and a handover plan, so leaving is easy.
What should you ask an AI agency before hiring?
- Which workflow would you start with, and why?
- What number will show whether it worked?
- What will the AI never do, and when does it hand over to a person?
- How do you test before go-live?
- Who owns the accounts, data and prompts?
- What happens if we stop working together?
Tell us the task your team repeats most.
